Aims

To bring together students' accumulated knowledge and understanding of planning and apply it in a live planning-related situation for an external client.

The Consultancy Project is designed to allow a group of students to work intensively on a piece of consultancy work for an outside client. This is a “live” project and the project brief is that of the client organisation with only minimum input from the School. It provides students with an ideal opportunity to bring together their accumulated knowledge and understanding of planning, with their ever growing body of practical, professional experience in a real planning or planning-related situation.

Other Assessment
Description Semester When Set Percentage Comment
Prof skill assessmnt1A100Group presentation and group report. Approximately 10,000 words depending on group size. Presentation last week of semester to client
Assessment Rationale And Relationship

The assessment is an end of project presentation and report to the client organisation and its guests. This provides an opportunity for the students to feedback their project findings and recommendations in a professional way to an interested and well informed audience; to field questions and to hear suggestions from those they have been working closely with for the period of the project.

The project presentation and report need to be considered together as a single submission: ‘the presentation of the project’ to allow latitude for a project to provide the end product appropriate to the intention, and process of the project.
