Visa requirements
To study in the UK you’ll need to apply for a Student visa.
As part of your application you’ll need:
- a valid passport or travel document
- proof that you can support yourself in the UK, for example, bank account statements
You’ll also have to pay a healthcare surcharge. This allows you to use the National Health Service while you’re in the UK.
Tuition fees and scholarships
A degree with us is life-changing. It’s an investment in your future.
For each year of your degree you’ll pay a tuition fee. That amount can be found on our course profiles online.
How much you pay will depend on the degree you choose. You should also expect that fee to increase in each subsequent academic year.
Scholarship opportunities
To help fund your degree you could apply for a scholarship – either in the UAE or from us. Schemes include:
- External scholarships: offered by UAE businesses, higher education associations and charities
- Newcastle University’s Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships: £6,000 tuition fee award per year of your degree
- Newcastle University subject specific scholarships
- Newcastle University International Family Discounts: available if a close family member is studying with us or has graduated from Newcastle University

The city was what drew me in first. I did not want to study in a big city, as I would not adjust to new life as quickly. Also, the cost of living is less than in bigger cities.
